Why does the rate here differ from the bank's rate?
The rate shown here is the mid-market rate, meant as a reference. Banks and currency exchange counters buy at a lower rate and sell at a higher one to earn the spread, plus added fees. So the amount you actually get when exchanging in person will differ slightly from the figure shown here.
Tips for currency exchange and international payments
When you pay for overseas purchases with a card, your bank usually adds a foreign transaction fee (typically 1–3%). Compare the reference rate here with the rate your bank quotes to see if the markup is reasonable, and consider timing your exchange for when rates move in your favor.
